Starting point for our snow-shoe tour is the parking space (1,365 m) at the ski lift at Passo Mendola, which can be reached either via the Mendola road or a ride with the Mendola funicular departing from S. Antonio. From here we follow the toboggan run no. 500 towards the Rif. Mezzavia/Halbweghütte (1,580 m), which is reached after about one hour of walking. After a snack we continue, always on path no. 500. At a small chapel and the Romeno pasture (also called Roen pasture) (1,767 m) the path no. 560 branches off.
We follow the course of this path for about 20 minutes and finally we reach our hiking destination, the Rifugio Oltradige mountain hut at 1,761 m asl. From here you can enjoy a great view of the Bassa Atesina valley. For returning, we take the same way, from the Rif. Mezzavia you can also toboggan down the path, but you need to take your own sledges. The Rifugio Oltradige is impressively located at the foot of the Mendola mountain, strictly speaking its eastern rock face.
