A snowshoe walking tour through snowy landscape via the Meltina Ridge to the Casera di Meltina.

Due to lots of snow the winter of 2009 we decide to make a snowshoe tour. Therefore we have to go by car to the Schermoos parking space which is located between Meltina (Mölten) and Valas (Flaas). The panorama board provides an overview of the area up here. By snowshoes we cut across country towards the Meltina Ridge (Möltner Joch), our signs are the markers no. 5 and 17A.
The landscape is deep in snow, partly we follow the tracks of earlier ski tourers. Across an extensive landscape we soon reach the Meltina Ridge (1,734 m a.s.l.), which constitutes the northern border of the village of Meltina. We really enjoy to trudge through the fresh powder snow, more than half of the tour is already managed.
After a short rest we proceed along the marker no. 15 to the Casera di Meltina (Möltner Kaser), a mountain hut at 1,766 m a.s.l. During winter it is closed, so we dig out the benches in front of the hut and enjoy our brought in picnic. There is also the possibility to walk further to the mystic place of the "Stone Men". Then we take the same way back.
