Naturno village

The Naturno Castle rises high above Naturno and seems to surveil the village.

The village of Naturno, located at 528 m asl, bears one of the most famous monuments of South Tyrol, which is the S. Procolo church, considered one of the most ancient early Christian churches of the province, constructed in the 7th century. Remarkable are above all the frescoes in its interior, which represent the most ancient wall paintings in the German speaking cultural area. Also the S. Procolo museum next to the church is worth a visit, likewise you have to see the S. Zeno church, a Romanesque building of 1,200.

High above Naturno, there is the symbol of the village, which is Castel Naturno, which until 1992 also hosted an accommodation. Being in private hands since 1952, unfortunately today it is no longer visitable. Regarding sports and leisure, you can try rafting on the Adige, climbing on the rocks of the climbing garden, swimming in the adventure pool of Naturno or playing golf at one of the golf facilities in the surroudings. Nature provides a wide range of possibilities. Moreover, the visitors’ centre of the Gruppo di Tessa Nature park provides lots of interesting information on the flora and fauna of the protected area, it is hosted in the high school of Naturno.

Our tips: “bicycle and train”, rent a bike, get on the Val Venosta train, stop wherever you want to and cycle back to Naturno!
