The lively main village of the municipality stretches between the Monte Sole and the shadier Monte Tramontana. Fruit orchards surround this small centre. Architectural and cultural sights enrich it. Especially if you love castles and fortresses, you will find what you are looking for here: The castles of Montani di Sopra and Montani di Sotto greet you from Morter, Coldrano Castle from the other side of the Adige, Monte Sant'Anna Castle is enthroned above the hamlet of Tiss.
Laces Castle, once surrounded by a moat, is, on the other hand, located in the village centre. Among all the shopping and refreshment options in Laces village, you will also find the Hospital Church with the winged altarpiece by Jörg Lederer and the Parish Church of St. Peter and Paul.
The Church of Our Lady on the Hill is located somewhat outside the village. The Menhir of Laces, a marble column dating from the period between 3,300 and 2,200 BC, was found there. Laces village (Latsch Dorf) is a good starting point for tours at any time of year: On the Latschander Waalweg path you can reach Ciardes, and on the Val Venosta High Route you can hike along the Monte Sole. From the edge of the village, the cable car also takes you to the San Martino al Monte.
Three sports facilities provide variety: the SportForum with tennis and athletics, the AquaForum with its indoor swimming pool, and the IceForum in winter. In the neighbouring Val Martello, on the other hand, cross-country skiing is very popular: A Nordic ski centre is located there.
