Alliz (Allitz), the third-largest village belonging to Lasa, was an independent municipality until a century ago. Perhaps that is why it is also the only small village located towards the lower part of the Val Venosta, while the other districts of Lasa spread out towards the Upper Val Venosta. The buildings here at the foot of the Monte Sole are divided into Alliz di Sotto and Alliz di Sopra.

Alliz di Sopra - literally: Upper Alliz - includes the eight farms that extend up to an altitude of almost 1,800 metres and which jointly hold the right of use for the Trögerwald forest and for the alpine pastures on the upper and lower mountain. Two cultural assets worth seeing are the Church of the Visitation of Mary, dating from 1640, and the Chapel of the Holy Trinity at the Untertröghof farm. According to stories, a sacristan from Lasa built this small chapel in 1752 out of gratitude after his missing child was found unharmed here. However, the area was settled long before that.

Where the Church of the Visitation of Mary stands today, pottery shards indicate a settlement from the Early Bronze Age. On the edge of the village lies the "Litzer Waldele", a popular recreation area. Originally established as a protective forest, as Alliz was repeatedly threatened by the Gadria debris flow during storms, it now particularly attracts visitors with the Lasa High Ropes Course.

Here you can test your skills among the treetops. For a leisurely exploration of the surroundings, a path leads you along the sunny slope of Alliz to Corces and then along the Zaalwaal and Ilswaal irrigation channels to Silandro - a special experience in spring during the apple blossom season.
