Hike through the “Latemar Labyrinth”

This walk, ideal also for families, takes us through a labyrinth of rocks and stones, face to face with the Latemar mountain

With changable weather conditions we start at the Passo di Costalunga (Karerpass), where we follow the signposts no. 21 and 17, stretching underneath the Latemar. First we walk along a broad forested trail, until we reach the first signpost "Labyrinth". Immediately the forest ends and the mighty Latemar towers into the sky in front of our eyes.

The labyrinth is a lunarscape consisting of coarse gravel and rocks. But is there also a trail? If you watch out for the red-white signpost, you are easily going to find it. You don't need to climb, but you need to walk stone tunnels and steps cut in stone.

At the end of the labyrinth we continue across the forest to the Mitterleger Mountain Hut, from where we take the "Sentiero delle Perle" or "Perlenweg" (Pearl Path, no. 21) towards the Passo di Costalunga, leading through beautiful larch forests. An easy trail, less adventuresome than the Latemar Labyrinth, but if you keep your eyes open you can discover an interesting flora and fauna.
