Hike along the wild Adige River

Easy walk through the untouched gorge of the Adige river from Lasa to Covelano and Silandro

The cool weather of this day makes us desist from a mountain walk and we decide to a walk along the Adige river from Lasa (Laas) to Silandro (Schlanders). This walk is also recommendable to families and follows the course of the Adige river in an area that is rather untouched.

At the end of the last ice age, a landslide forced the Adige river to enter a narrow gorge at the southern edge of the valley basin. We start our tour in the village of Lasa. At the station we traverse the platform and cross the Adige bridge, taking us onto the Val Venosta cycling trail. We follow this route towards east, and admire the rails of the marble train.

Passing by the electric power plant and following the trail no. 18, we walk to the gorge. Some walking minutes away, fruit orchards characterised the landscape, while now the alluvial forest strikes our eyes. For a longer part, the route follows the cycling route, then we proceed on a narrow path. This section is particularly untouched, a little river and some more water-courses gurgle from the mountain down and empty into the Adige river.
