Mountain tour from Solda to Martello

The Val di Solda and Val Martello valleys are both located at the feet of the Ortles Alps with its almost 4,000 m high peaks and countless glacier snouts

By the Solda Cable Car we reach the Città di Milano Mountain Hut (Schaubachhütte) at 2,583 m a.s.l. The path no. 151 proceeds parallel to the Madriccio Chairlift up to the Madriccio Mountain Hut (Madritschhütte, 2,824 m a.l.s.). We cross a bleak rocky desert, but upon closer inspection we are surprised by the speciose blooming alpine flora. The hut, which is the centre of the Solda Skiing Area in winter, is the last rest point. A fantastic view on the Ortles Alps with King Ortles, Mt. Zebrù and Mt. Gran Zebrù accompanies us uphill until the mountain pass.

Stunning landscapes await us while our descent at the Martello side. The path proceeds downhill through a heath with varied surroundings. After more than 3 hours afoot we reach the Nino Corsi Mountain Hut (Zufallhütte, 2,267 m a.s.l.). From here there are only 30 more minutes to walk to the Genziana Mountain Hut. There, at the parking space, also the bus to Coldrano starts. From Coldrano the train brings us to Spondigna where we take again the bus to come back to Solda.

Please note: Usually, the Solda Cable Car operates from mid-July to early October. Please check the timetables of train, bus and cable car before the start.
