Part of Prato all'Isarco in the valley basin and Novale di Presule (Prösler Ried), Novale di Fiè (Völser Ried), and Passo (Steg) belong to the municipality of Fiè allo Sciliar. They are not independent hamlets but scattered settlements located between the Valle Isarco and the Sciliar area.
They are situated on the slopes below Fiè and Sant'Antonio - like Novale di Fiè and Passo - or extend down to the bank of the Isarco River, as is the case with Prato all'Isarco. Thanks to their hillside location, these places lie at a relatively low altitude of between 300 and 650 metres.
This location is favourable for viticulture. The landscape is characterised by vines surrounding the farmsteads. The Valle Isarco is known for its excellent white wines. Around 20 wineries in Italy's northernmost winegrowing area have joined forces in the "EisacktalWein" initiative, selling their wine from the cellar door and offering guided tours and tastings with the winemakers.
Especially in autumn, during the Toerggele season, the area is ideal for a leisurely hike followed by a stop at one of the local farm inns. They are known as "Buschenschänke". The Valle Isarco is considered one of the strongholds of Toerggelen, where from October to November dumplings and Schlutzkrapfen, a meat platter, roasted chestnuts and sweet doughnuts are served.
