Hike in the Valle di Braies to the Malga Brusada hut

Pleasant hike from Ferrara in Braies di Fuori to the Malga Brusada mountain hut, situated at 1,900 m asl high above the village of Valdaora.

The meadows of the Malga Brusada mountain hut are located at the slope between Valdaora and Braies. Our hike starts at the church of Ferrara in the beautiful Valle di Braies valley, from where we follow path no. 2 over the Rio Braies brook and uphill to the edge of the forest. The asphalt road snakes its way across the meadows before it turns into a gravelled forest path.

We follow the signpost no. 35A uphill trough the coniferous forest. Near the highest point of our hike at 1,900 m asl the forest road becomes a narrow meadow path. At the fence on the boundary of the municipality of Valdaora we enter the area of the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park. Finally a gravel path leads us slightly downhill towards the Malga Brusada mountain hut, our destination (Brunstalm, in German). This lovely rest point invites to stop and offers delicious South Tyrolean delicacies. Afterwards we follow the same trail back down into the valley again.
