From Villandro in Valle Isarco, we drive towards the Alpe di Villandro, close to the Rif. Gasser (parking space Speckboden free, parking space Rif. Gasserhütte subject to charges) we park our car and continue with our snow-shoes.
On the path no. 7 we reach the Gasserhütte mountain hut (1,744 m asl), already in this place the view of the Sassolungo and Sassopiatto are astonishingly beautiful. We continue towards Moar in Plun, following the signpost no. 6. Up to this place the path is also suitable for families and is rather flat. However, it does not continue like this. The path no. 7 towards the Gasteiger Sattel pass is much more exhausting. From Moar in Plun to the saddle, we overcome 200 m of altitude difference.
Other 200 m of altitude difference and another hour of walking are still ahead, before we finally reach the Corno del Renon (2,259 m als). The Corno del Renon/Rittner Horn is by the way one of the most beautiful panoramic mountains of South Tyrol. If the weather is good, the view ranges from the Großglockner mountain to the Dolomites up to the Ortles Alps. For returning we take the same paths, some stages could be cut cross-country.
