The planetary trail at San Valentino in Campo

This walking tour is also known as “planetary walk” and gives information about our solar system. It proceeds easterly of Collepietra.

Our starting point is the parking space at the road Collepietra-San Valentino in Campo. We proceed along the small road through the landscape with meadows and woods of the upper San Valentino in Campo. First we follow the marker no. N to the wine restaurant “Unteregger” and find the first sign, it is a “P” and stands for Pluto. To reach this orb, which is furthest from earth, we have to climb a small hill near the Tschigg-farm, which is known as the highest point of Collepietra. There the information panel about Pluto is located. Next we walk to the restaurant Unteregger which is located directly at the observatory in the centre of the star path and symbolizes the sun. We pass the planetary stations of Mars, Earth, Venus and Mercury.

On our way to Jupiter and Saturn we walk through a marshland where amphibians and dragonflies live. Walking further trough the forest brings us to the last information panels about Uranus and Neptune and we also reach our starting point at the parking space. Due to the knowledge about the distances in our solar system and the varying landscape in this area this walking tour becomes a real event.
