Hike to the mountain pastures of the Quaira Valley

The Valle di Quaira (Karbachtal) is a side valley of the Val Casies. On the slightly ascending gravelled path, we reach various alpine pastures at the slopes of the Villgraten Mountains.

Opposite of the little church “Mara Kirchl”, shortly before San Martino di Casies, the road into the Valle di Quaira branches off. After the first bends of the mountain road, a little parking space is located, where our hike starts.

We follow the asphalt road uphill until the Karbacherhof inn, where the gravelled path no. 36 starts. It proceeds through the valley to the Schäferalm, Leachalm and Gallfall Alm alpine pastures, all located near the valley floor.

At the head of the valley, at the higher slopes, the Ochsenfelder Alm and Kapaire Alm pastures are located. The quiet valley is ideal for nice walking tours. At the Schäferalm and Leachalm, located approx. halfway, a stop for refreshments is possible. Until there, the paths are especially easy and also suited for prams.
