Snowshoe tour at Fontana Bianca

Fontana Bianca in the rear Val d’Ultimo Valley is situated at the foot of the Ortles Range. Here winters are long and snowy.

Our snowshoe hike takes place in the area of the Valsura source in the rear Val d’Ultimo Valley. By car we reach the small parking place at the Fontana Bianca Lake (1900 m asl). The route takes us on the path no. 140, where we pass by the well-known restaurant “Knödlmoidl”. We leave the Fontana Bianca huts behind and after less than 1 km we reach a fork. There we choose the path no. 103 in the direction of Lago Pescatori Lake.

In the deep snow we slowly ascend, the path gets steep and we reach the path no. 107.
The ones who seek for an additional challenge, should choose the path no. 107 on the right, which takes you to the Oberweissbrunn hut. The others should follow the path no. 107 on the left, which takes you to the Lago Pescatori Lake and to the Malga dei Pini hut. This route runs right under the tree limit. From the Oberweissbrunn hut please follow the path no. 104 until you reach the Malga dei Pini hut: you will enjoy a gorgeous view.

The two routes converge at the Malga dei Pini hut. From here on the path no. 101 will take you back to the Fontana Bianca Lake.
