Snowshoe hike in Fontana Bianca

Our snowshoe hike takes place in the area of the Rio Valsura source in the rear Val d'Ultimo. By car we reach the small parking place at the Lake Fontana Bianca (1,900 m a.s.l.) in Santa Gertrude. The route takes us on the path 140, where we pass by the former restaurant "Knödlmoidl" (closed). We leave the wooden huts of Fontana Bianca behind and after less than 1 km we reach a fork.

There we choose the path no. 103 in the direction of the Lago dei Pescatori, literally Fishers' Lake (Fischersee). In the deep snow we slowly ascend, the path gets steep and we reach the path no. 107. The ones who seek for an additional challenge, should choose the path no. 107 on the right, which takes you to the Oberweissbrunn Mountain Hut. The others should follow the path no. 107 on the left, which takes you to Lake Pescatori and the Malga dei Pini mountain hut (Fiecht Alm) in the Stelvio National Park. This route runs right under the tree limit.

From the Oberweissbrunn Mountain Hut please follow the path no. 104 until you reach the Malga dei Pini: You will enjoy a gorgeous view. The two routes converge at the Malga dei Pini. The path no. 101 will take you back to Lake Fontana Bianca. The data indicated refer to the longer route.
