The Farmazon Hut is situated in a side valley in the Upper Val Passiria: A forest road connects it with Capanne di Fuori

An easy and leisurely hike leads us in an hour and a half from the car park near the Capanne di Fuori bus stop into the Farmazon Valley. Capanne di Fuori itself is a small hamlet between Plata and Plan, in an excellent area for hikes and mountain tours. We start and immediately walk through the Hütterwald forest, which is already located within the Gruppo di Tessa Nature Park.
In total, we cover an elevation gain of about 420 metres over a distance of just under four kilometres. After about an hour's ascent through the forest, we reach the final section of the road above the Farmazon Valley. Here we have a great view of the valley and the mountains, from the Monteneve near Passo del Rombo in the north to the nearby peaks of the Texel Group in the south. We have now left the forest behind us, and alpine roses characterise the heathland.
Now only the last section of the path to the Farmazon Mountain Hut (Farmazon Alm), also known as Formazon Hut, lies ahead. The sunny terrace of the alpine inn at 1,886 metres above sea level is a pleasant place to rest, and the mountain hut serves excellent South Tyrolean dishes.
Later, we return along the same path to Capanne di Fuori (Ausserhütt). Incidentally, the forest road is also manageable with an all-terrain pushchair.
