Hike to the mountain pastures of the Valle di Quaira

The Valle di Quaira is a side valley located in Valle di Casies: A gently rising gravel path leads to the various alpine pastures

Opposite the Mara Church, shortly before San Martino in Casies, the Karbachweg trail branches off into the Valle di Quaira. After the first few bends of the mountain road, there is a small car park where our hike begins. We follow the paved road uphill to the Karbacherhof farm tavern.

Gravel path no. 36 starts here. It leads through the secluded valley to the Schäfer Hut, Leach Hut, and Gallfall Hut, which all sit close to the valley floor. At the head of the valley, the Ochsenfeld Hut and Campara, or Kapaire, Hut rest on the higher slopes of this part of the Villgraten Mountains.

These higher pastures provide excellent views of the impressive Sesto Dolomites. The Valle di Quaira (Karbachtal) is ideal for gentle walks. You can stop for food and drink at the Schäfer Hut and Leach Hut, which are located about halfway along the route near the valley floor.

The paths up to this point are easy and suitable for pushchairs. We turn back from the Campara Hut and arrive back at the car park after a total walking time of almost four hours.
