The Star Trail leads from the main square in Collepietra in the Val d’Ega valley to the tree house in the shape of a rocket.
In 2012, the First European Star Village was created in the Val d'Ega valley: Around San Valentino in Campo and Collepietra there is the Astronomical Observatory Max Valier with a solar observatory, the Planetarium South Tyrol, a Planetary Path and, since 2019, also the Star Trail. Here on the high plateau, light pollution is so low that the Star Village was awarded gold by the "Astronomitaly" platform for the most beautiful starry sky in Italy.
The 2.7 km long Star Trail - "Weg der Sterne" in German, "Sentiero delle Stelle" in Italian -, which is still being worked out, starts in the centre of Collepietra (Steinegg, no. 2) and leads in 45 minutes to the absolute highlight: the 1st South Tyrolean rocket tree house just after the Öl Forest Experience Zone. South Tyrol's school classes could contribute their ideas on what could be realised along the path. Seating and rest areas are available, and a visit to the planetarium or the observatory, 10 km away, are the crowning finale!
