Circular hike above Collalbo

This circular hike takes us through meadows and forests on the Renon High Plateau and to the earth pyramids, Maria Saal and the ”Hexenboden”

The starting point of our hike is the train station of Collalbo (1180 m). From there we walk downwards on trail no. 24 in direction Maria Saal. After approx. 30 minutes of walking time we reach the viewing platforms of the earth pyramids. Although we are not seeing the pyramids for the first time, the view of these special earth formations fascinates us also today. Soon afterwards we reach the Santa Maria church. The next section (no. 8) leads through meadows and we then reach the "Hexenboden" (1100 m). Here, in this little clearing, witches are said to have met here in the past to dance - and we take a short break.

Now the ascent on path no. 9 begins, and we walk through wonderful forests. We are glad of the shady trees that make this hike pleasant even on a warm summer day like today. After a total walking time of just under 3 hours and now on trail no. 9B, we reach Bad Siess (1430 m), where we stop for lunch. From here, we later continue on trail no. 8 to the Tann, which takes us 20 minutes. Finally, trail no. 1 leads us back to our starting point Collalbo.

This circular hike not only impresses with pleasant paths in diverse nature and the significant waypoints, but also with an incomparable view of the Dolomites, including Sciliar, Sassolungo, Sasso Piatto and the Latemar.
