Hike from Pemmern to the Corno del Renon

In beautiful July weather, we start at the car park for the Corno del Renon Cable Car in Tre Vie, or Pemmern, above Collalbo and set off on foot towards Mt. Corno del Renon. Information boards at the car park provide details about the various hiking options. Passing to the left of the Pemmern tavern, we begin the ascent. After a short walk, the path turns right and leads directly across the alpine meadows and under the cable car up to a small chapel.

This short section is quite steep but is wonderfully suited for a first brief rest and fascinating views of the surrounding mountains. By this point, half of the ascent is already complete. Afterwards, the path continues pleasantly and far less steeply through meadows and woods to the mountain huts, which are ideal for a refreshment stop. These include the Corno di Sotto Hut with its sun terrace.

Behind the mountain hut, a bordered path begins, leading steeply upwards for about another half hour to the 2,260-metre-high Corno del Renon. It rewards hikers with a superb view stretching as far as the Val di Funes valley, Valle Isarco, and Catinaccio. We start our return journey along the same route and reach the valley station again after a total of four hours.

The tour described here is somewhat steep in parts, so for families, we recommend taking the cable car up and down to the Cima Lago Nero. Mt. Corno del Renon is home to the adventure trail "The Fabulous World of Toni", which is an interesting destination for children, and the Cima Lago Nero Panorama Path with its Round Table and the Dolomitoskop viewing point.
