Gargazzone nature outdoor pool

The train stops right on the doorstep: The Naturbad Gargazon is a popular meeting place with a play stream for children

The natural swimming pool on the edge of Gargazzone opened its doors several years ago: With an area of 12,000 sqm, it was the first public swimming pool in the western half of the country that was and still is chemical-free - there are other natural bathing ponds in Luson and Dobbiaco today. In addition to the swimming pond itself, there is a natural brook with a toddlers' pool, a non-swimmers' area (max. depth 1.20 m) and a play area with a beach volleyball court, table tennis and table football facilities and picnic tables. And why it is called a natural pool?

It is an ecosystem that is similar to a normal lake: Aquatic plants, phyto- and zooplankton and a few mechanical maintenance measures make it possible. The shower water is heated by solar collectors. Another advantage of the Gargazzone nature pool is its easy accessibility: There is a large car park, furthermore it is ideally reachable by means of public transport - the train stops right in front of the swimming pool - and the Valle dell'Adige Cycle Path between the spa town of Merano and the provincial capital of Bolzano runs past here.
