The Luggin family serves biological delicacies out of the South Tyrolean farmers cooking.
The Luggin family has set up an interesting farm inn at St. Nikolaus near Kaltern, a local place of pilgrimage. You can reach the rustic cellar via the farm shop with its numerous farm products and enjoy South Tyrolean farm dishes with a glass of wine, fruit juice or spirits from the farm's own organic distillery.
Home-made bread, "Kaminwurzen" smoked sausage, Speck, Graukäse cheese. Various soups, salads, dumplings as well as ravioli with seasonal fillings, "Schlutzer" spinach ravioli, Kaltern polenta, "Muas" savoury flour dish. Strudel, various cakes and home-made raspberry ice cream. Meat dishes with various side dishes, "Tirtlen" fritters and "Krapfen" sweet pastries on advance order. In autumn home-made sausages with cabbage and meat cuts. Juices: apple, apple-blackcurrant, grape, elderflower, blackcurrant, raspberry.
The 2019 Piwandi is refreshingly fruity with clear citrus notes. A very good wine. The 2019 Odorus has a delicately fruity and discreetly floral character. The 2019 Rosé is briskly fruity in bouquet.The 2019 Mont Vin is neutrally fruity and has medium structure. The 2018 Lavardi appears mature, but not old, and is a soft, smooth wine in the mouth. The 2018 Aritos is spicy and fruity.
Access route: From the centre of Caldaro towards the Passo Mendola until the entrance to the district of San Nicolò. Park your car here and walk the last 200 metres to the farm inn. The Steffelehof is also reachable by the citybus of Caldaro and the public bus coming from Bolzano.
