Hike from Redagno to the Passo degli Oclini

The hike leads up to the mountain pass between Mt. Corno Bianco and Mt. Corno Nero, with a stop at the Gurndin Hut

The 2,000-metre high Oclini Pass (Jochgrimm) separates the distinctive peaks of Corno Bianco and Corno Nero and is accessible from Redagno via a fairly straightforward, three-and-a-half-hour hike. We start at the junction where the Gurndin forest road branches off from the road connecting Redagno di Sotto to Redagno di Sopra, just east of the "In der Stadt" settlement.

The forest track winds through a high-alpine coniferous forest on the slopes of Mt. Corno Bianco up to the meadows of the Gurndin Hut, or Gurndin Alm, at 1,954 metres above sea level. Upon arriving there, we have almost reached the destination of our hike. But first, we treat ourselves to a traditional platter of Speck - a well-deserved reward after the noticeable climb!

We then continue along the final stretch, which rises gently towards the Passo degli Oclini. Alpine meadows and scattered trees characterise the highland landscape. At the pass itself, several restaurants and hotels support the operation of the small Oclini Skiing Area during the winter. From the mountain pass, the route can be extended to the Passo di Lavazè or up to the summits of Corno Bianco and Corno Nero - 2,316 and 2,439 metres high respectively.

We follow the same path down, although there is also a shortcut from the Gurndin Hut to Redagno. This alternative route follows the "Blauweg", a hiking trail that leads past untouched alpine meadows and through larch forests, also offering a view into the Rio delle Foglie gorge.
