An impressive hike that leads you to three well-known castles: Castel Boymont, Castel d’Appiano and Castel Corba

The starting point for our hike is Missiano near Appiano, specifically the car park below Corba Castle. Initially, we follow the paved road and can already see two of the three castles: Corba Castle (Schloss Korb) and, slightly higher up in the forest, Boymont Castle (Schlossruine Boymont).
The path leads us past vineyards and orchards, giving us panoramic views of Oltradige and the town of Bolzano. When we reach a forest, we follow trail no. 12 until we meet the "Burgenweg" (castle path). We gain altitude via a small path, and we soon reach the Kreideturm tower.
This was an outwork of Appiano Castle (Burg Hocheppan). The path becomes significantly steeper, and we soon step through the castle gate into the courtyard, which is also home to the Appiano castle tavern. Outside, there is an archery course. Afterwards, we continue towards Boymont.
The path now leads steeply down into a gorge. From there, we have to climb back up the other side via steps and a small bridge. We continue our hike through the forest on trail no. 14 and approach the third complex: Boymont. This castle ruin also features a well-known tavern where you can stop for a break. Afterwards, we start our return journey: We walk back to the junction, which leads us straight back to Corba Castle. We arrive back there after two hours of hiking.

- More information:
- The overall time shown above refers to the walking time only, not including breaks or stops. The hike is not particularly challenging, but the section that descends from Appiano Castle into the gorge and then steeply ascends towards Boymont Castle, with passages over suspended staircases, can present some difficulties. The tour is particularly recommended in spring and autumn and is also suitable for children who are used to walking.
If you want to undertake this hike, we recommend checking the weather and trail conditions in advance and on site before starting this hike!
