Autumn hike around Verano

This pleasant round tour on the Verano High Plateau leads to the Malga Leadner mountain hut and around the Hirschenbichl hill: The hike enchants at all times of the year

The sunny village of Verano high above the Valle dell'Adige valley represents the starting point of this late autumn hike at the beginning of December. From the mountain station of the Verano Cable Car we walk through the village centre and follow the path no. 16 uphill to the Grüner Baum tavern and further on at the edge of the forest to the Pichler Meadows. At the crossroads near the Bruggn Lacke, an already frozen pond, the trail proceeds to the Waldbichl tavern.

Finally the path no. 38 takes us to the Malga Leadner mountain hut. Along the path no. 11 around the Hirschenbichl hill we pass the Bruggn Lacke pond again. In the forest we reach the Schützenbrünnlweg, a trail leading to the Grüner Baum tavern. From this point the path no. 16 leads us back to Verano. The landscape along the way is characterised by the meadows and forests of the gentle mountainous landscape in the surroundings of Verano (Vöran).

The views on the surrounding peaks, the Dolomites, the Ortles-Cevedale Group and the Alpine divide are simply breathtaking. The paths are well maintained - the hike is not demanding and overcomes an altitude difference of only 400 metres.
