Hike from the Parcines Waterfall to the Cima Fiammante Hut

Our current destination is the Cima Fiammante Hut in the beautiful Val di Tel valley - a challenging hike with a very specific starting point: the Wasserfall inn by the Parcines Waterfall above Parcines. During the warmer months, the waterfall is accessible by bus from Parcines in fifteen minutes. Alternatively, a hike leads up to it. This option is suitable for climbers with good stamina, as the seven-hour tour to the Cima Fiammante Hut follows immediately after.

Before we set off, we take in the impressive view of the Parcines Waterfall from the observation deck. From the old hydroelectric power station behind the inn, the path known as the "Fletscher Stiege", marked as trail no. 8B, immediately leads us steeply up through the forest.

We have to climb numerous stone steps. After an hour and a half, we have covered 450 metres of elevation and reach the Nasereit Hut before the ascent into the upper Val di Tel begins. The Nasereit Mountain Hut sits at an altitude of over 1,500 metres in a highly natural setting. We then continue deeper into the Val di Tel, which is shaped by the power of water. Water is a constant companion here, appearing as waterfalls, springs, babbling brooks, and three drinking fountains.

After another two and a half hours, passing the Ginggl Hut and the Malga di Tel, or Zielalm (the latter is managed), we finally reach our destination. The Cima Fiammante Hut (Lodnerhütte) stands on a green hill at an elevation of 2,259 metres. Nearby is its chapel, built in 1933 by the former landlord Anton Raffeiner, known as "Wirt's Toni". Today, a memorial plaque commemorates him.

The expansive views and a well-deserved rest at the hut quickly help us to forget the physical effort before we begin our descent. By the end of the day, we have walked 15 kilometres in seven hours and managed an elevation gain of 1,200 metres. These straightforward numbers, however, do not capture the distinctive character of the landscape and the alpine pastures in the Val di Tel, a natural gem in the Gruppo di Tessa Nature Park.
