Racines-Giovo Skiing Area

Skiing fun on the Giovo Pass: 28 kilometres of perfectly groomed slopes await you in the Racines-Giovo Skiing Area

The Racines-Giovo Ski Resort on the Giovo Pass, or Jaufenpass, is known for its reliable snow conditions. Lifts like the Blosegg Chairlift and the 8-person panoramic cable car transport you up to the slopes. Both depart directly from the edge of the village of Racines di Dentro. Due to the fact that the mountain pass, at over 2,000 metres, marks the border between the Upper Valle Isarco and the Val Passiria valleys, and the 28 kilometres of slopes extend to the Giovo Mountain Hut on the pass road, the area is also considered the second ski resort of the Val Passiria.

At the heart of the Racines-Giovo (Ratschings-Jaufen) Ski Resort, spreading out around the Kalcheralm pasture, the Racines Fun Park entices visitors with its wave line, kicker line, and fun slope. In addition to the easy family runs and a slalom course with automatic timing, there's also a challenging slope for experts, the "Rinneralm Profi" run. Younger ski enthusiasts can playfully practise their first turns at the Racines Ski School's Skiland with ski kindergarten.

Several ski huts offering regional specialities provide refreshment. Away from the slopes, a toboggan run and the panoramic high-altitude cross-country ski trail at the Giogo Piatto, which starts at the mountain station, await you. The Wipptal Ski Pass is valid in the ski resort.

It covers the three skiing areas of Monte Cavallo, Racines-Giovo, and Ladurns. A free ski bus connects the surrounding villages. Incidentally, the Ridanna-Racines-Valgiovo region belongs to the "Alpine Pearls" network, which promotes environmentally friendly mobility in holiday regions.
