Lake Chiusetta, a little mountain lake and popular hiking destination, is accessible from Cadipietra in the Valle Aurina.
In the Klausberg hiking area, at the slopes of the 3,251 m high Monte Fumo, a little mountain lake is located, Lake Chiusetta (Klaussee, in German). On its waterfront there are several possibilities to relax on the foot of the Durreck Group and enjoy the unforgettable panoramic view on the Zillertal Alps.
At the mountain station of the Klausberg cable car in Cadipietra, the path proceeds past several managed mountain huts at 1,600 m asl. Always following the marker no. 33, we reach Lake Chiusetta at 2,162 m asl after about 1.5 hours walking time (560 m altitude difference).
In good weather conditions the impressive peaks of the Valle Aurina are reflected in the water. Behind the lake, well-known gigantic mountains of the Zillertal Alps rise, like the Monte Lovello and the Sasso Nero. Those who don’t have enough, can climb the peak of the 3,251 m high Monte Fumo or hike further to the “Breite Rast” (2,098 m asl, about 1 hour).
