This late autumn circular hike leads from the Bressanone district of Millan via Meluno to Sant’Andrea on the slopes of the Plose

In late autumn, starting this circular hike in the Valle Isarco around midday is recommended, as the warming rays of the sun hit the slopes below the Plose. We start our walk at the modern parish church of Millan. Built between 1984 and 1985, this church with its tent-like design is dedicated to Josef Freinademetz. He was a missionary to China from Val Badia and South Tyrol's first saint.
First, we head up to the Church of Our Lady on the Sand. After a brief visit to this sanctuary, which was a frequently visited site during the plague around 1640, the actual ascent begins. We follow path no. 7 towards Riffnol, a hamlet on the slopes of the Plose.
Crossing a bridge, we walk for a while through the dark forest until the trees thin out and the path leads into the meadows near the mountain settlement of Meluno. Here, we follow path no. 12 to Sant'Andrea, the largest settlement on the slopes of the Plose. It is also part of the municipality of Bressanone and serves as the starting point for the Plose hiking and skiing area.
The Parish Church of Saint Andrew (Sant'Andrea) is located here. Path no. 4 then takes us to the hamlet of Mairdorf, and trail no. 4A leads us through the autumnal deciduous forest back to Millan. After two and a half hours, we arrive back in the Bressanone district.
