Hike to the Lago di Pontelletto lake

The Pontelletto Mountain Hut (Puntleider Seealm in German) and the enchanting Lake Pontelletto in the Sarentino Alps are the destination of our hike from Le Cave north of Fortezza

From Le Cave (Grasstein in German) we drive by car to the farms of the village situated on the slope. At the Fischnaller Farm, just before the end of the asphalted road, there is a parking possibility. This is where the forest road "Puntleider Alm" starts, which we follow. Alternatively, you can also choose the steeper path through the forest (trail no. 14) and reduce the time needed by about one third. However, we decide to take the longer, more leisurely option along the forest path that winds its way up through the forest. Where the coniferous forest thins out, there are viewpoints to the Fundres Mountains with the Picco della Croce in the east and to the nearby peaks of the Sarentino Alps in the southwest. It takes us about 2 hours to reach the Seealm Mountain Hut at 1,780 m a.s.l.

The mountain hut is a popular place to stop and enjoy local food and drinks. From here it is not far to Lake Pontelletto. The way there is a path through the forest with many roots and stones. But it is worth investing the 20 minutes of walking time, because the lake is a real jewel and is not without reason considered one of the most beautiful lakes in the lower Alta Val d’Isarco valley. By the way, the best viewpoints are on the western shore. The descent is via the same route.
