Ideal weather for this walking tour into the Val d'Ultimo - the hot summer days are gone but the warm September sun accompanies us. Starting point is Lana where we take the Monte San Vigilio (Vigiljoch) Cable Car up to 1,490 m a.s.l. Past the Vigilius Mountain Resort we proceed along the path no. 34 down to the village of Pavicolo (Pawigl) at 1,170 m a.s.l. The farm houses of the mountain village Pavicolo are located amidst green meadows on the edge of the forest.
Here the path no. 10 starts which leads us to S. Pancrazio (St. Pankraz) through a varied landscape of thick coniferous forests, green meadows and mountain farms. Several times we have to cross small tributary valleys and coves where small mountain streams pass through.
On our descent to San Pancrazio a few times we cross the asphalt road, which connects the villages of Guggenberg and Alpreid with the valley. The surrounding of S. Pancrazio (790 m a.s.l.) is shaped by mixed and broad-leaved forests, in the meadows fruit and chestnut trees grow. After a village tour we take the public service bus back to Lana.
