Hike in the Val di Funes valley

From Tiso to Santa Maddalena - this autumn walk leads along the entire valley along its sun-drenched side.

Those who are familiar with South Tyrol also love the Val di Funes. Somehow the valley at the foot of the Odle mountain peaks is still an insider tip, as it missed out the major developments in Alpine tourism of its neighbouring valleys. Exactly for this reason it is slightly more authentic and original than others. Our tour on a day in October starts in Tiso, the village at the beginning of the valley.

We start in its centre, walking along the path no. 11. Soon we walk in the forest, after a steeper stage the path runs smoothly and almost flat. Meadows and mixed forests alternate. The docile autumn landscape leads us to the hamlet of S. Valentino with its ancient church. From here it is only a stone's throw to S. Pietro, one of the larger villages in the valley. This is also an ideal place for a stop or having a drink. Now we follow the path "Sunnseitenweg" towards Santa Maddalena.

The landscape is mainly dominated by meadows and we walk towards the head of the Val di Funes valley. Unfortunately around midday the impressive Odle mountain peaks are back-lighted. And we already catch sight of the centre of Santa Maddalena (St. Magdalena).
