One of the most successful theatre groups in South Tyrol has been staging its own production every summer already for over 30 years. Once in the Gaul Canyon and now in the garden of the Capuchin Monastery in Lana di Sopra, just below the pedestrian zone "Am Gries", you can enjoy balmy summer nights and culture in the Merano region: The theatre group is made up of professional actors, amateur actors and new talents and impresses its audience year after year.

Among the plays are "Alpträumer" as well as "Einer flog über das Kuckucksnest" (One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest), the adaption of the classic movie with Jack Nicholson from 1975. In 2023, "Die Piefke-Saga" was staged, based on the eponymous satirical television comedy written by Felix Mitterer.

Tickets are available by phone or at the box office, booking is recommended as the "Freilichtspiele Lana" are always sold out.
