Asparagus Wine from Terlano

Terlano is well-known for its asparagus - an asparagus dish is perfectly combined with a glass of local Sauvignon blanc.

The asparagus season in Terlano (Terlan) runs from the end of March to the end of May, when on the 10 hectares of cultivated area around the village this greatly appreciated vegetable is harvested. In the Valle dell’Adige valley, where the Adige river has filled this piece of land with fine earth and sand, the asparagus of Terlano grows especially well. It is mild in flavour and protected throughout Europe under the brand name “Margarete”.

Water makes up more than 90% of the asparagus’ composition, furthermore it is a good source of vitamin C, E and beta-carotene as well as B complex vitamins. With a delicious asparagus dish you also need a special wine - the Sauvignon “asparagus”, a Sauvignon blanc of the Terlano Winery. It is characterised by its delicate fruity bouquet and the fresh aromas.

You can enjoy asparagus dishes and the Asparagus Wine on different occasions, e.g. during the Terlano Asparagus Season with its famous Asparagus Festival or at the Asparagus Weeks in Nalles, 5 km from Terlano, as well as during the Castelbello Asparagus Season in the Val Venosta valley and at the event “Asparagus & Wine” in Scena, near the spa town of Merano.
