This beautiful short autumn walk takes us through the well-known larch meadows on the Salto plateau

On this autumn day, we take a walk on the Salto plateau. Its striking larch meadows turn various shades of yellow during the season. From the Schermoos car park, about one and a half kilometres from Valas and accessible from San Genesio Atesino or Meltina, we follow signposts no. 7A "Gschnofer Stall" and then "Panoramalauf Soltn".
We walk past several pastures with cows, sheep, and horses, first on tarmac and then on gravel. The sun gradually hides behind a thick blanket of clouds. The path leads us gently downhill through the forest. After a short ascent, it brings us to a pasture gate.
Here, we are near the "Tammerlemoos" biotope. The path through the pasture is narrow but clearly visible. It leads us to the Gschnoferstall Hut, where we enjoy traditional South Tyrolean cuisine. After our lunch break, we return to the starting point along the same route.
The route is mostly flat with only a few short inclines. It is also possible to reach Gschnoferstall from the Schermoos car park via path no. 6B in about an hour's walk. Alternative return routes are available as well. Our walk takes us two leisurely hours.

- The total time given above refers to the walking time there and back, excluding breaks. This is an easy hike that can be easily managed even by families with children or those using an off-road pushchair. Please note: Some sections of the path may be muddy and slippery on wet days! We recommend wearing warm clothing, as temperatures can drop quickly in autumn, particularly in wet and windy conditions.
If you want to undertake this hike, we recommend checking the weather and trail conditions in advance and on site before starting this hike!
