Autumn hike to the Rielinger Inn

From Steg in the Valle Isarco valley to the rest point on the sunny slope of the Renon near Siffiano: Especially during the Törggele season in autumn, this short hike is a good opportunity to enjoy a leisurely walk and soak up the sun

The Stein Castle ruin is not far from our way: It was built in the 13th century and was the seat of the court for several centuries until it was abandoned in the 17th century.

The village of Steg is located on the Via Brennero road north of Prato all'Isarco. Path no. 11 towards Siffiano starts at the homonymous inn. The path immediately climbs steeply through the deciduous forest. We reach the vineyards at the Egger, Untergenagen and Obergenager farms.

The path continues up to the vicinity of the Stein castle ruins, where it crosses the Chestnut Path (Keschtnweg). We walk along this path towards Siffiano and follow the signpost "Rielinger" at the next junction. The inn of the ancient farmhouse from the 13th century awaits us with traditional Törggele food. Many products come from the farm's own organic production.

The view extends to the eastern side of the Valle Isarco valley into the Sciliar region. After our lunch break we walk a little further to the neighbouring farms on the slope of Siffiano: Kitzbühler, Mair am Nock, Schlosshof, Ober- and Unterfeiertinger are situated on the sunny meadows above the village of Siffiano on the Renon High Plateau. Back to Steg we take the same way. An alternative descent from the Obergenager Farm follows the asphalt road ("Schlossweg"): this variant is a little longer, but less steep.
