A sunny day inspires us to drive to the Madonna di Pietralba Pilgrimage Site near Nova Ponente and explore an alpine pasture

The backpacks are packed, the hiking boots are laced up, and we are ready to go. We set off from the car park of the Madonna di Pietralba Pilgrimage Church near Monte San Pietro, where we already have a fine view of the mountains of South Tyrol. The signpost indicates the walking time.
It is just a 35-minute walk along path no. 2 to the alpine pasture. The wide forest track makes the route very pleasant. Down in the valley, we reach a small bridge over a mountain stream. We take a break here: The children take off their shoes and eagerly build dams, as playing in the water is fun for all ages. We then continue our walk. Half an hour later, after taking a steep shortcut, we arrive at the Monte San Pietro Mountain Hut on the Monte Regolo at an altitude of 1,531 metres.
At the entrance, we find a herb spiral, carefully bordered with stones and featuring a small pond. Tipis and a traditional sweat lodge decorate the meadow. We could walk further to the next alpine pasture, but relaxing is our priority on this summer day.
We enjoy our time at the pasture and start our journey back in the late afternoon. This allows us to admire the Catinaccio and Latemar Groups in the evening sun from the car park. This glowing of the Dolomites is called Enrosadira. It is also possible to extend the route by starting directly in Monte San Pietro and including the Laab Mountain Hut in the circular walk.
