A hike to the alpine pastures on Aldino’s Monte Regolo, popular with locals and guests alike
Image gallery: Hike across the alpine pastures of Aldino
The higher part of the Monte Regolo below Mt. Corno Bianco in the municipality of Aldino is ideal for extended walks. From late spring into autumn, mountain huts and inns provide places to stop for refreshments amidst the alpine meadows that break up the area's coniferous forests.
A convenient starting point is the small hamlet of Lerch above Aldino. There are some parking facilities here, and we start our hike at the small chapel. The ascent on path no. 8 leads us to the junction with trail no. 11A, which we follow uphill in an easterly direction. It merges into path no. 15, which takes us directly to the Belriposo Hut (Schönrast Alm) at 1,694 metres above sea level.
This mountain hut is also accessible from Nova Ponente. We continue along the forest road and keep right at the next fork (no. 2A) - this brings us to the Lahner Hut near the visitor centre of the GEOPARC Rio delle Foglie and the Dinosaur Trail. This is a good place for a break before we walk further along the Gorzsteig trail to the Schmieder Hut at an altitude of 1,680 metres.
It is the last of the three mountain huts on our circular route. We now take path no. 15 back down to Lerch. This final section provides a beautiful view of Mt. Corno Bianco and Mt. Corno Nero.
