Every year on the 2nd Sunday in September, the town centre of Vipiteno becomes a dumpling mile: Then a 400-metre long table is set up in the new and old town where the round delicacies can be tasted in all kinds of variations. Traditional dishes include dumplings with chanterelles, with a sweet filling, with savoury bacon, or with spinach. But there are also creative variations such as dumplings with wild herbs, strawberry dumplings, or nougat dumplings. Are you curious now?
The popular South Tyrol Dumpling Festival has been organised for 20 years by the Vipiteno-Val di Vizze-Campo di Trens (Sterzing-Pfitsch-Freienfeld) Tourist Association and the participating restaurants, and attracts thousands of visitors every year. Music groups from the surrounding area provide musical accompaniment to the culinary delights.
