Stilfserjoch Stelvio Trail Run

2,100 metres of altitude to conquer during the Stelvio Trail Run between Prato allo Stelvio and the top of the pass

For a decade, a unique running event has impressed spectators in the Val Venosta: the Trail Run at the Passo dello Stelvio, where athletes start in Prato allo Stelvio and push their way ever upwards, until they arrive above the top of the pass at Mt. Cima Garibaldi at an altitude of 2,845 metres. More than 1,900 metres of elevation gain lie between start and finish.

The route winds through the impressive landscape of the Stelvio National Park (Nationalpark Stilserjoch), leading from the vegetation in the valley up to the high-alpine natural landscape, which demands everything from its inhabitants - both plants and animals. Once at the top, amidst the Ortles Alps, the view of the surrounding peaks and glaciers is phenomenal.

Participation is open to anyone with a medical certificate for sports - high-alpine equipment is essential. There are ten categories for ages ranging from 18 to 70+. Everyone who makes it to the finish line receives a finisher medal, and there is also a "Just for Fun" run. Five refreshment stations along the route provide the necessary energy. Incidentally, another event known beyond the borders takes place one month earlier on the Stelvio Pass road, also between Prato allo Stelvio and the top of the pass: the Stelvio Night.
