Two top-class mountain runs: the Südtirol Drei Zinnen Alpine Run in September and the Drei Zinnen Winter Night Run in February
The Drei Zinnen Alpine Run invites thousands of athletes in mid-September to one of the most beautiful mountain runs in the Alps. It takes the athletes from the "Haus Sexten" Congress Centre in Sesto over a distance of exactly 17.9 kilometres and 1,354 metres of elevation gain to Moso, through the Val Fiscalina to the Piano Fiscalina and Fondovalle mountain huts. Shortly after the Fondovalle Hut, the route continues left in switchbacks towards the Rifugio Zsigmondy-Comici and then to the Rifugio Pian di Cengia at an altitude of 2,575 metres.
A test of endurance that ends above the Laghi dei Piani at the foot of the Three Peaks. It is an officially registered run of the Italian Athletics Federation, FIDAL. Part of this is also a programme for children: It spans both days of the event and consists of laps of various lengths on asphalt, gravel, and grass in seven age groups. The heart of this is the Mini Drei Zinnen Run on Sunday.
But that is by no means all: In conjunction with the Südtirol Drei Zinnen Alpine Run, the Drei Zinnen Winter Night Run takes place in the Dolomites in winter, where runners overcome 13 kilometres and 238 metres of elevation gain, in the midst of the most impressive snowy landscape of the Upper Val Pusteria. In February, it runs through the world-famous Val Fiscalina and below Mt. Croda dei Toni, or Cima Dodici, to the Fondovalle Hut. A sight to behold!
