With 1,050 hectares, Appiano is considered the largest wine-growing municipality in South Tyrol. For almost three decades, the WineCultureWeeks have taken place here over 10 days between the end of July and the beginning of August, dedicated entirely to the enjoyment of wine and culture. The idyllic alleys of San Paolo Appiano, surrounded by wine estates, form the perfect setting for a series of events, including wine seminars and tastings of South Tyrolean wine.
Highlights include the Big Bottle Party and the Dumpling Day, where you can enjoy the variety of dumplings prepared by the farm women of Appiano, the South Tyrolean Wine Promenade and the San Paolo Wine Tour. The festive highlight is the "Great Gourmet Event", where Michelin-starred chef Herbert Hintner treats guests at a 120-metre-long table under the starry sky. Places are limited and highly sought after! Information and reservation: info@eppan.com.
Another wine event takes place in October after the grape harvest ends: Cornaiano celebrates "The Last Load of Grapes". In a special ritual reminiscent of grandparents' times, a cart carries a vat full of grapes and a harvest wreath into the village. The grapes are then pressed in an old wine press before the eyes of the spectators.
