A circular hike along the Meadow Path near Scena, called Wiesenweg, is relaxing when the apple trees bloom in April

The walk through the area around Scena starts at the turn-off from the road leading from Scena to Avelengo. On the left-hand side, the Meadow Path ("Alte Strasse" sign) winds through the orchards and vineyards on the hillside. After approximately one kilometre, near the Hotel Eschenlohe, we keep right and follow first the Via Scena road and then the Via Goyen path.
Following the "St. Georgen" signpost and passing the Kampfelkreuz viewpoint, we reach San Giorgio di Scena (St. Georgen bei Schenna) after a few bends and a final ascent via a narrow path with steps. It is a small, peaceful village featuring a well-known circular church.
We have now reached the highest point of the walk, at an altitude of over 700 metres. From there, the route descends. The Meadow Path winds northwards through the orchards and crosses the road to Verdines. Passing Thurn Castle amidst blooming apple trees, the path continues to Scena.
The village features Scena Castle, the parish church and the Archduke John of Austria Mausoleum. From there, the Meadow Path (Wiesenweg, marked here as trail no. 10A) leads to the south-western slope. Following this slope brings us back to the starting point at the Scena turn-off.
Especially in spring, the Meadow Path serves as a leisurely walking route that provides many pleasant views over Merano and its surroundings. On this particular April day, the apple trees are in full bloom. Because it is a circular route, walkers can start from any point along the path.
