Lake Caldaro and its surroundings as racetrack: Every year in May the International Lake Caldaro Triathlon takes place
Every may, a little bit of Olympia comes to the friendly south of South Tyrol. Then, the race over the Olympic distances of 1.5 km in the discipline of swimming, 40.8 km of cycling and 10 km of running is held at Lake Caldaro on the South Tyrolean Wine Road. Every athlete with a valid start licence of his or her country may participate. The International Lake Caldaro Triathlon has been held for 35 years and is rated as an ETU- Prestige-Triathlon: The running track - 3 x 3.33 km - is situated on the northern shore of the lake, whereas the bike course - 3 x 13.35 km - takes the athletes around the lake and in its surroundings, up to 349 m a.s.l. Starting point is San Giuseppe al Lago.
The contest is a fantastic opportunity for athletes and visitors to experience the area of Lake Caldaro in a unique and different way. Several supply points can be found along the route, promoter and organizer is the Caldaro Sports Club - section triathlon together with the Caldaro Tourist Information. A few weeks earlier, the Caldaro Lake Run is held in the same place.
