A four-day international festival in Bressanone is dedicated entirely to the saxophone in November
In November, saxophone sounds fill the air in Bressanone: For four days, the small town becomes the venue for the Alpen Classica Saxfest, the Saxophone Festival, held within the framework of the cross-border Alpen Classica Festival. Saxophone competitions, masterclasses, workshops and concerts take place, bringing together young talents and music lovers.
The Alpen Classica Saxfest is intended as a platform for exchange, inspiration and musical excellence. Admission is free, and the Forum Bressanone provides the appropriate setting. The Orchestra Euroregionale Alpen Classica - Euregio Symphony Orchestra is a fixed component of the Alpen Classica Saxfest every year and accompanies the soloists at the gala concert.
The Provincial Directorate of German and Ladin Music Schools and the Cross-Border Association have also collaborated in past festivals to enable music students to participate. The Alpen Classica Saxfest was first held in 2017 - the now traditional closing concert usually takes place in Villandro, 17 kilometres away. The training courses have already featured teachers from European universities, such as Arno Bornkamp (Amsterdam), Vincent David (Brussels), Pieter Pellens (Antwerp), Nahikari Oloriz Maya (Pamplona), Daniele Comoglio (Milan), Asagi Ito (Japan-Brussels) and Lutz Koppetsch (Würzburg).
