The best red and white wines, including the famous Kalterersee Auslese DOC, can be tasted at the market square of Caldaro
The wine village of Caldaro near Lake Caldaro, considered one of the most idyllic wine villages in the world, is situated amidst a wonderful cultural landscape defined by vineyards and palm trees. This is also the home of the Kalterersee wine, which is experiencing a renaissance and now has its own seal of quality, the Kalterersee Charter, dedicated to the protection of this special wine.
Caldaro has launched two very special wine tastings at the market square: In May, it is the turn of the red wines with "Caldaro all in Red" (Kaltern ganz in Rot), and the member establishments of wein.kaltern will also treat you to creative dishes. It is inspiring to see the tents illuminated in red, with many people dressing in red to match, although this is not a requirement. The wine tasting is offered at a fixed price, plus a deposit for the wine glass.
Then, in June, follows "Caldaro all in White" (Kaltern ganz in Weiss) for Caldaro's white wines with their delightful notes of apple, banana or pineapple. Here, many visitors are dressed in white, while the tasting tents glow white. The events take place in all weathers - naturally, there are also some delicacies from the regional cuisine at "Caldaro all in White". Are you only in Caldaro in August?
