A summer open-air festival turns the Ritten Arena in Collalbo into a meeting place for music and festival lovers
Sitting on the grass, a summer breeze, a cold drink and live music... these are the ingredients for a summer of festivals. This is what you can expect at the Rock im Ring festival on the Renon, which has been attracting young and old to the Ritten Arena for several days of festivities for years. In winter, this is the site of the ice ring used for international tournaments, meaning there is plenty of space: On this July weekend, the large sports centre hosts two stages and more than 25 bands.
For around three decades here in Collalbo (Klobenstein) on the Renon, the music and supporting programme, delicious local and international food, refreshing drinks and the extensive camping area have turned this into a cult event with highly sought-after tickets.
The local and international music stars who have already performed on stage here include names such as Sepultura and Bilderbuch, Mando Diao and The Hives, Juliette Lewis and Fettes Brot, H-Blockx, Mother's Cake and Wolfmother. A mix of rock, metal, punk and alternative bands set against a backdrop of magnificent natural scenery: Collalbo is also easily accessible by bus from the provincial capital of Bolzano in just 30 minutes.
