Every two years, a chamber music festival turns the Alpe di Siusi area into a meeting place for music lovers
Spring in the Alpe di Siusi area is celebrated for five days in May at special venues, such as in the library of Fié allo Sciliar, in the hamlet of San Costantino and in the impressive setting of Presule Castle. Works from various eras are performed by different ensembles, all with free admission to ensure culture remains accessible to everyone.
The festival takes place every two years, and returns in 2026: Under the artistic direction of Chiara Tonelli from Bolzano and Philipp von Steinaecker from Hamburg, works spanning four centuries of chamber music will be performed. They take over the direction from 2026, succeeding Sonia Simmenauer who led the previous three editions of the Schlern Music Festival.
The line-up includes violinist Aylen Pritchin, winner of the Long-Thibaud Competition, Andrea Obiso, concertmaster of the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome, and Martin Zalodek, a member of the first violin section of the Vienna Philharmonic. A special focus is placed on the string quintets by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Alongside an opening concert there is also an artist talk.
