Mountain tour from San Martino to the Cima San Cassiano

The starting point for our June hike is the car park at the valley station of the Reinswald Cable Car in San Martino. We initially follow the meadow and forest path no. 7 "Plankenhorn-Getrum" up to the Getrum Hut at an altitude of 2,094 metres, covering the first 600 metres of elevation gain.

Here we find ourselves at the tree line and continue our route to the trail crossing at the Lücklpass in the Sarentino Alps. From this point, we head straight ahead along path no. 8b. The landscape is now rockier - we turn right at the next junction onto path no. 8, and subsequently path no. 9. Soon, we reach the summit of Mt. Cima San Cassiano (Kassianspitze), which stands at 2,581 metres.

It sits on the southern edge of the eastern ridge of the Sarentino Alps, where we can take in excellent views of the surrounding peaks. After a short break, we return via path no. 9, which leads past the beautiful Lake San Cassiano and down to the Rifugio Santa Croce di Lazfons, a mountain hut with a small chapel. We stop here for our lunch break. Afterwards, path no. 7 takes us back to the Lücklpass gap at 2,376 metres and then downhill to the Getrum Hut.

Here we turn onto the Urlesteig trail (no. 11), a family-friendly theme path that brings us back to the valley station after a total of seven hours, maintaining an almost constant altitude. Following this alpine road, we pass the Chrust Gepatsch Hut and the Sunnolm Hut. A similar, although shorter, hike in this area is the mountain tour to the Santa Croce di Lazfons.
