“A festival with two souls” - this is how the famous dance festival, one of the highlights of the Bolzano Cultural Summer, is described

In the second half of July, Bolzano transforms into a dance stage: International stars and dance enthusiasts meet at the Municipal Theatre on the Piazza Verdi square or - open air - in the Capuchin Park to enjoy the sophisticated performances of Bolzano Danza - Tanz Bozen. It is one of the most important festivals for contemporary dance, both nationally and internationally.
Learning to dance, developing one's dance skills and seeing the works of the greatest international choreographers... for four decades, the festival has been bringing young people and students from South Tyrol, Italy and the entire German-speaking region to the provincial capital. During the two course weeks, around 80 dance courses for adults in Lindy Hop, Pop, Jazz, Modern Taylor and Flamenco are offered, as well as kids packages for ages 5 to 14.
In addition, a performance programme with international dancers and dance companies awaits you. The year 2020 became famous when the "Eden" project was awarded a prize; in this project, dancer Annie Hanauer performed a solo for a single guest at a time when culture had to pause due to the pandemic. In 2025, ExtraDanza was newly introduced, taking inspiration from the famous "Kilomètre de danse" by the Centre National de la Danse in France: three stations on the Talvera Meadows invite everyone on a journey through the languages of dance.
Just like the Bolzano Festival Bozen, which takes place afterwards, Bolzano Danza is also part of the high-calibre Bolzano Cultural Summer. The Haydn Foundation has been the organiser of the festival since 2015. Subscriptions and tickets are available at the Municipal Theatre of Bolzano.
