Speck Festival South Tyrol

Every year in autumn, everything revolves around the hearty South Tyrolean Speck: 22 weeks is its average maturation time

What the Bread and Strudel Market is for Bressanone and the Strawberry Festival for Martello, the Speck Festival South Tyrol is for other valleys. For a whole weekend, the South Tyrolean Speck PGI was celebrated in the Val di Funes and, for some years now, on the summit of Mt. Plan de Corones.

Speck is the indispensable ingredient of every South Tyrolean Marende - a sandwich with Speck, mountain cheese and/or pickles is the perfect snack during a hike -, of the Speck dumplings, and is a tasty souvenir. It is organized by the South Tyrolean Speck Consortium in autumn, a few weeks before the Plan de Corones Skiing Area opens its doors.

In these two days between the end of September and the beginning of October, an insight into the working world and the customs of the region, South Tyrolean delicacies, live music and guided summit hikes await you. In case of inclement weather, the Speck Festival South Tyrol will be relocated from Mt. Plan de Corones to Brunico, as was the case last year.
